To the individual reading this document, welcome. Please read on as I have some important information I feel the need to address regarding SOPA.

It was many years ago that I was like you. I had a name, an identity. I was a person with likes and dislikes, a human being with the ability to interact in society. I was even a fan of a few performers, believe it or not. The Platters, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin...they were talented musicians. Had I possessed any musical abilities, I myself may have tried to pay homage to their songs with my own music. Then it would have been called flattering, and looked on as a sign of fan devotion - in this modern era of SOPA, it is a potential felony.

It is for this reason that I must address SOPA - a threat to devoted fans of many types, and a direct threat to my very own livelihood.

"But C.G.B. Spender," you ask, as if you know my real name, "how could SOPA possibly be a threat to your job?" Well, dear reader, SOPA acts to usurp me in the following ways:

  1. Increased monitoring - Big Brother, if you will.
Constant monitoring, likely in some unsavory ways, will occur in the name of protection against piracy. I don't like it. Unlawful and intrusive monitoring is MY job, SOPA. It was during the Kennedy Administration, and it is now. I would prefer these things left to the experts.
  2. The ability to make enthusiastic followers into felons.
Again. Kennedy Administration. Oswald. If anyone is going to crucify innocents and create scenarios where the truly guilty are hidden behind naive fans, it is me and me alone.
  3. Overarching power, and the ability to threaten and intimidate until projects are removed from existence.
Really, SOPA? You think that you can do better than me in this arena, I invite you to my office to discuss the matter. I highly doubt you can come close to my spotless track record in the intimidation category. Sure, SOPA, you aim shut down a nerd's website and silence dissent, but I can shut down entire governments.

Want to read more on the dangers of SOPA to me, C.G.B. Spender, and to loyal fans and their websites / fanworks? Read all about it here or here.

Now I must be on my way - I have a novel to attempt to write, a colony of bees needs tending, and Alex Krycek is getting difficult to manage again.
